BVE show headliners bring star quality

27 January 2017

BVE 2017 is still a month away and yet the excitement around the show is building. In the last two weeks show organisers have announced keynotes from BAFTA award-winning director, Amma Asante, appointment-to-view documentary film-maker, Louis Theroux, actor, writer and director, Dexter Fletcher and the leading voice in UK film criticism, Mark Kermode.

There really is no better place to be than BVE if film and programme production is your passion.

Exhibitors and seminars

Join BECTU and 300 other industry exhibitors over three full days from 28 February-2 March at London's ExCel, for this year's showcase. Choose from 120 hours of quality presentations on topics as diverse as user-generated content and storytelling, factual commissioning, innovative approaches to movement on set and negotiating relationships for success.

You'll also be exposed to the latest in technical innovation in camera, lighting, sound and more with advice from the experts on tap.

BECTU will be exhibiting from stand L59 and as always we're looking forward to meeting current members and future members over the three days. We'll have officials on hand to answer your questions about industry developments and Beverley Hills, CV & Careers Advisor, will be delivering valuable 1-to-1 advice. Bring your CV and arrive early at our stand to book yourself a slot.

Tax Essentials for Freelancers

And if you're visiting on Tuesday 28 February, don't miss our  annual seminar - Tax Essentials for Freelancers - delivered by our research officer, Tony Lennon, and Ben Burns, team accountant with Blue Skies Partnership. (11.40, Production Theatre). Freelancers need to know their rights and responsibilities and of course the government is planning changes to the tax regime which will require adjustment. Hear more about the plans at the session and put your questions to our guest speakers.

We look forward to seeing you in February. Visit our stand for your free copy of our Tax Guide for Freelancers and for more information on the support the union provides to staff and freelancers. New members who join at the show can save on membership; there's much to take advantage of including low cost PLI, competitive rates on kit cover and essential training with discounts for members.
